Busy Christmas!

Once we came from UT we have been busy decorating our home, buying some things, catching up with primary responsibilities, etc. This week I have been working on burning 77 CD's with the 2014 primary songs that we are going to use to give to the families in my ward so that the children can learn these songs at home. This was our Christmas gift from the primary presidency. It took time to make them but Scott was helping me a lot. He helped one night cutting the insert covers that we printed at staples. I purchased the templates for the insert covers online. They look cute. We gave these CD's to the families in our ward, primary teachers, chorister, pianist and the primary presidency.

Vacations in UT 2013

We spent some vacations in UT. We flu there on November the 28th through December 7th. It was nice to see everybody there and celebrate thanksgiving with family. We visited Scott's family and some friends. My mother-in-law Barbara also organized a baby shower for me. I received many nice gifts from everyone for our baby girl. We are really thankful to everyone who came to the baby shower. We also went to see the Christmas lights at the temple square. The weather was freezing, but I needed to get some pics and film some parts of the temple to show to my family in Peru. It's difficult to do many things with a pregnant woman. We just decided to take it easy and spend time with family.  Because of the holidays and the shower we got many things and we didn't have enough space in our luggage to take it all home. We left some of stuff in UT. Barbara & Craig are going to come to California sometime in January. Hopefully they can bring our stuff that we left there. They will also bring our camera. Scott put our camera in his winter coat pocket and he left the coat in UT : / pictures coming up soon once I get my camera back :)

Primary 2014

Time flies! I can't believe 2013 it's almost gone. I am now planning my 2014 primary schedule. I will have a primary presidency meeting on Sunday and I wanted to have everything organized for next year. I finally finished with my 2014 program. I will just need to coordinate with my counselors on Sunday and add some awesome ideas that they will probably have. I also bought some primary planner templates online that I think will work perfect for the primary presidency and chorister. I just needed to print them out at home. It took me a few hours but I did it! I went today to staples to print the planner covers and bind them. I thought that it would cost more than I paid . For some reason when I usually do something for primary at Staples I get amazing discounts :) I think this planners will help us a lot with primary! I am so excited to give these planners to my counselors and chorister in primary.

Grandpa's Gift!

After we told my parents that we are expecting a baby girl. My dad bought a gift for our baby. It is the first gift that she will receive. He bought to her a pair of golden earrings. It is so sweet of my dad! In Peru most of the baby girls usually wear their first pair of earrings during the first year of being born. The earrings that the babies use are usually very small. It could be a stone or small pearl.

Turkey Toss Game - Primary Sharing Time

On Sunday November 17th I did sharing time in primary. The lesson was about Temporal Blessings. I usually do 3 to 4 activities to keep the children busy and not bored. I usually start doing an activity to find out the topic of the lesson. It could be a puzzle, matching games, looking for a picture hidden in the classroom, invisible ink, etc. After that I start teaching the lesson. At the end I finish with a fun activity related to the lesson. It could be word search, pop balloons and answer questions, etc. For Senior sharing time I change a little bit the lesson. I also use the scriptures more with them. To finish the complete lessons I show a short video related to the lesson. I find these videos in mormon channel. I like to keep the children busy with different activities so that they don't get bored. It really works!
This Week I found a great idea on the internet about a turkey toss game. I made the turkeys and got some beanbags. It was very easy. My children have a lot of fun. My lesson was about temporal blessings. I put some questions in the back of each turkey tails. Once the children knocked the turkey off the table by throwing the bean bag they had to answer the question. Of course the questions were related to the topic of the lesson.
This is how I did the turkey game:
I printed the tails on colored cardstock and the feet on orange cardstock. I also taped 2 coins to the bottom of the feet so that the turkey stands up right. The head and front of the turkey I printed on white cardstock. I embellished them by coloring the tips of the feathers and the giblet. I used a balloon for the body. I made 12 turkeys. I put them on a table in primary and we had a lot of FUN!

Primary November 10, 2013

On Friday afternoon I received a phone call from one of my counselors. She wasn’t feeling well and she asked me to teach her lesson for sharing time.  I was happy to be able to help her with sharing time. I prepared the lesson that day.  I usually prepare my lessons a week ahead of time so that I can make fun activities for the Junior and Senior classes.  I did some fun activities with the Junior class.  The lesson was about Spiritual Blessings. At the end of the lesson I asked them to draw a picture about something special that they are thankful for.  I asked some of the children to share their drawings with the class. Noah who is in CTR 4 told me that he drew me. He said “Sister Rogers I made you!”  That was so sweet of him! He said “Sorry that I didn’t draw you with hair. I don’t know yet how to do that.” I said it’s ok it looks great! . He also told me that he always likes to make everyone happy. I love to work in primary I’m learning a lot from the children!

Relief Society Craft Day!

Last Saturday November 9th the Relief Society in my ward organized a craft day. I decided to go to have a nice day with the sisters in my ward. Every Sunday I spend all of my time in the Primary and I don’t have time to enjoy Relief Society meetings. I am glad that I can participate in these activities and learn more about the Gospel and enjoy of fun activities. In this activity I made a Christmas sign and a temple block ( a block of wood with the picture of the temple). I chose the picture of the Salt Lake City Temple, it reminds me of beautiful memories when Scott and I were married. I had so much fun at the activity. Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious lunch.

5 months pregnant :)

I can't believe how time flies. I will be 21 weeks on Sunday November 10th . We have to wait just 19 weeks to have our baby girl with us! We need to start working on the nursery room and do some shopping for our little angel :)
